2FA — Security to all assets
With so much of our lives happening on mobile devices and laptops, it’s no wonder our digital accounts have become a magnet for criminals.
In recent years, we’ve witnessed a massive increase in the number of websites losing the personal data of their user and as cybercrime gets more sophisticated, companies find their old security systems are no match for modern threats and attacks.
Luckily, it’s easy for businesses to add an extra level of protection to user accounts through two-factor authentication, also called 2FA.
What is 2FA?
2FA(two-factor authentication) is an extra layer of security after your username & password to log into your account.
2FA can also be said to be an extra layer of security used to make sure that people trying to gain access to an online account are who they say they are.
Why should users use 2FA?
- 2FA is an essential security tool.
- 2FA reduces the risk of account takeovers and provides additional security for users and their accounts.
- If you’re currently relying on passwords alone, it’s time to evolve, and using 2FA is a solid first step.
Most importantly, if cybersecurity matters to you, then activating the 2FA system should matter too.
Nothing gives peace of mind like knowing that your assets are safe and secure.
That’s why Scallop Official has given us some vital tips on how to avoid theft and hacks.
- Using a password manager.
- By using the 2FA.
The most secure 2-step verification method is by using the security key. The security key is a physical hardware authentication device designed to authenticate access through one-time password generation.
This can be activated by going to Settings > Security.
Select Security Key under 2-step verification.
Another famous 2FA method is by using a Google authenticator.
The authenticator provides a very secure configuration for 2-step verification. These do not require phone reception or internet access once they’re set up.
Note that most hacks on one’s account are due to a lack of security measures on the platform. This in turn can lead to a loss of funds.
To ensure that your assets and funds are safe from hacks and the likes, always ensure you store them on a platform that makes security paramount.
Scallop Official is one of those platforms.
